Meet the Urban Farmer

Matt’s parents thought all teenagers should have a part-time job. Sure, school and good grades came first, but there was always time for work and to learn the value of money.

At the age of 15, he started mowing the neighbors’ lawns. Soon, word got out that he was dependable, did a good job, and was willing to provide other lawn care services such as fall-clean-up, aerating, and de-thatching.

Matt completed his first landscaping project also at 15. He designed and installed a new paver patio in Urbandale’s Lions Park for his Eagle Scout Project - an award he received that same year.

The business grew and Matt added his first employee.

Remember those parents that didn’t want him to put education last? After graduating from high school, Matt went on to obtain a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture.

Urban Farmer Lawn and Landscape is now made up of a great team of professionals. We’ve expanded our service offering to include landscape design-build and commercial grounds maintenance.
